Meet Our Founder & CEO
Upul Dassanayake
Upul Dassanayake is one of the most accomplished and internationally recognized export consultants and business transformation strategists in Asia. With over 25 years of corporate experience spanning Banking and Finance, Education and Training, FMCG, Information Technology, and International Trade, Upul brings a rare combination of deep domain expertise, global perspective, and hands-on delivery capability to every engagement.
As the creator of the B-TEXA™ (Business Transformation and Export Acceleration) framework, the most comprehensive SME export transformation methodology in the region, Upul has personally empowered over 5,000 businesses across Sri Lanka and beyond to begin, accelerate, or scale their international trade journeys.
Upul has served as a National Consultant at the International Trade Centre (ITC), United Nations, providing strategic guidance to SMEs on export readiness and trade competitiveness. He is also a Senior Consultant at E&M Export Management (Netherlands), one of the world’s leading export consultancy firms, and a Consultant on International Trade at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
His international collaborations read like a who’s who of global development: ITC (United Nations), USAID, GIZ, IFC (World Bank Group), ILO, the European Union, Oxfam, UNIDO, BetterWork, Expertise France, and Grant Thornton. Through these partnerships, Upul has designed and delivered transformative programmes for SMEs and large enterprises across industries, markets, and continents.
Uniquely, Upul has trained the senior management and relationship officers of six major Sri Lankan banks, namely People’s Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Commercial Bank, Hatton National Bank, NDB Bank, and Sampath Bank, on identifying and transforming SME clients into successful exporters. This banking sector expertise positions VOLTEGRO at a powerful intersection of finance, trade, and business transformation that no other consulting firm can replicate.
Beyond consulting, Upul is a Director of Aczenith Intelligence (Pvt) Ltd., an international AI solutions company, bringing artificial intelligence capabilities directly into VOLTEGRO’s service delivery. He previously served as Chairman of INFOTEL, Sri Lanka’s largest ICT exposition, and as President of the Education and Training chapter at the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), and has represented Sri Lanka at numerous international forums across the Asia Pacific region.
Upul holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology from Keele University, UK, a Bachelor’s Degree in Management (Special Honours) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and is a Licentiate Chartered Accountant. This combination of business, technology, and financial expertise gives VOLTEGRO’s clients a uniquely integrated perspective.
